Coastal Walkway

The award-winning Coastal Walkway is a 13.2km path that forms an expansive sea-edge promenade stretching from Pioneer Park at Port Taranaki all the way to the eastern side of Bell Block Beach.

Pukekura Park

Often described as the jewel in New Plymouth’s crown, Pukekura Park covers 52ha (128 acres) right in the heart of the city and is one of New Zealand’s premier botanical gardens.

The park includes the Fernery and Display Houses as well as the adjacent garden estate area of Brooklands, home to the acclaimed Bowl of Brooklands and Brooklands Zoo.

The park has an international Green Flag award and is a Garden of National Significance.

Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights is a popular summer event in Pukekura Park that runs over December and January. From the website:

The TSB Festival of Lights is a much-loved free event in New Plymouth, attracting around 125,000 visitors each year. The festival runs for approximately six weeks over the summer period and is set in the stunning 52-hectare Pukekura Park, one of New Zealand’s premier botanical gardens.

Brooklands Zoo

Brooklands Zoo is home to a large variety of animals including capuchin monkeys, meerkats, parrots, tortoises, and many more.

After you’ve met all of our wonderful animals, stay a while and make the most of the playground and outdoor areas.

Todd Energy Aquatic Centre

With indoor and outdoor pools, hydroslides, and sauna and spa, there is something for everyone.

The aquatic centre is located at 8-10 Tisch Avenue, right on the Coastal Walkway. There is plenty of car parking close by, with mobility parking directly in front of the entrance.
