Getting In The Door

To get in the door, you should have been given instructions on how to retrieve a key for the front door. If you have not, reach out to Jonathan and Julia.

Internet Access

Internet is available via the WiFi network Giles - New Plymouth. The password is 296oldwestroad. There are no data limits, so feel free to use as much as you like.

Security Devices

There are multiple security devices in the house:

  • There is a security camera in the downstairs lounge, and another in the kitchen upstairs. They records video and audio. Whilst you are staying at the property, you are welcome to unplug the camera if you would prefer not to be recorded, but please remember to turn them back on when you leave.
  • There are door sensors on the four downstairs doors that open to the outside. These send a notification to Jonathan’s phone when the door is opened and closed.
  • There is an alarm system, but it is currently disabled.

Home Automation

There is a home automation system that controls aspects of the house (most notably some lighting). Lights will turn on / off as appropriate in some rooms (most notably the front door foyer area and the stairway, overnight). If lights are on automatically, just leave them - the house should turn them back off again when appropriate.

Spa Pool

When no one is staying at the house, the spa pool temperature is turned down low to conserve electricity. If you want to use the spa pool, you can turn the temperature up using the control panel on the side of the spa pool. A good temperature to set the pool to is 38 degrees Celsius. Hot Water

Hot water is generated from the two gas bottles at the rear of the house, using an infinity hot water system. This means that there is a finite supply of hot water, and it may run out on you. Because there are two gas bottles, it is possible to switch from one to the other if you run out of hot water. To learn more, see the hot water page.

Linen and Towels

There are two linen closets in the house, one in the cupboard at the top of the stairs, and one behind the door next to the downstairs toilet. The linen closets contain a variety of sheets, duvet covers, and towels. You are welcome to use any of the linen and towels in the house, but please wash and dry them before you leave, if at all possible.
